Dotted Border Tutorial

At the request of someone, here's a dotted border tutorial! You'll be learning how to make an icon with a border like these have:

This tutorial was done with Photoshop 6, and should work in other versions. I'm not sure if it's possible in other graphics programs though.

Anyway, to start off, we'll make a new document 3 pixels by 3 pixels.

Zoom in to 1600 percent

And make three 1px black dots like this

Go down to Edit -> Define Pattern

And then go down and select it by going to Fill (the paintbucket) -> Change "Foreground" to "Pattern" and select what you just made.

Select the single row marquee tool

Set it to this symbol. This makes it so you can select more than one row at once.

Select all sides where you want the border

Use the fill bucket inside your selection and it's done!

Now as an extra optional step, you can define THAT as a pattern and use it without all the hassle anytime you want. ^^ Hope you enjoyed my second tut, and feel free to ask if you're unclear on anything.
